ARMY: 43 B/Haram Insurgents Surrender, Moved To Gombe For De-Radicalisation

The Nigerian Army says it has moved has 43 Boko Haram insurgents who surrendered to Gombe state for de-radicilisation.

In the statement Sunday, the Deputy Director, Public Relations, Theatre Command of Nigerian Army, Maiduguri, Colonel Onyema Nwachukwu, said some of the insurgents who are penitent enough during the de-radicalization and rehabilitation process will be given a new lease of life as they commence their journey back into the civil.


“He urged them further to embrace and undertake the programme whole heartedly to enable them benefit and positively reorient their views about life and the society in general, “the statement said.

The insurgents were air lifted to join other insurgents who surrendered in Gombe on Saturday where they are to immediately commence the process of re-orientating their views about life and the society in general.

The Nigerian government claims that the Boko Haram insurgents have been largely defeated but the group continues to hit soft targets like mosques, churches, markets to announce their presence. Recently, it abducted and made a public show of 10 female members of the Nigeria Police Force
