Apple Unveils Mr Eazi As Its Newest ‘Up Next’ Artist (Video)

Oluwatosin Oluwole Ajibade better known by his stage name, Mr Eazi, has been named by Apple as its newest ‘Up Next’ artist.

The singer, songwriter, and entrepreneur who is the pioneer of Banku Music, a fusion of sounds he describes as the mixture of “Ghanaian bounces, Ghanaian highlife, Nigerian chord progressions, and patterns” shared the good news on his Twitter page.

Mr Eazi retweeted the confirmation by billboard music on his timeline, making him one of the very few African artists to be named by the music streaming platform’s emerging artist franchise.

Two days ago, The Economist featured Mr Eazi and Tekno under the title, ‘What the world is missing’. The magazine describes Tekno as ‘one of Nigeria’s most prolific popstars’ whose ‘Rara’ single ‘follows in the fine tradition of Fela Kuti by skewering the country’s sclerotic politics’.

The feature also recognized Mr Eazi as a musician shaped by both influences from Nigeria and Ghana..
