MILLIONS STOLEN IN HIGHWAY HEIST!

THE cash-in-transit team was taking money from Free State to Eastern Cape on Wednesday morning when the four men were ambushed, shot at and robbed.

They were travelling on the N6, about 10km outside Bloemfontein, at about 4.15am when the SBV truck was hit by a speeding Mercedes-Benz.

The driver lost control of the truck, which overturned.

“Explosives were used to gain access to the truck,” he said.

Free State Hawks spokesman Captain S’fiso Nyakane said cops have launched a manhunt for the suspects.

He told Daily Sun: “The Mercedes-Benz hit the truck, causing it to lose control and overturn in the middle of the road.”

There were three guards and a driver in the truck.

“The suspects started shooting at them using a high-calibre firearms,” said Nyakane.

“No one was shot but a security guard sustained shoulder injuries and was rushed to hospital.

“Rifle cartridges were found at the scene.

“The suspects took an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the scene.

“Cases of attempted murder and armed robbery are being investigated.”

He requested anyone with information to contact the nearest cop shop or phone the CrimeStop number, 08600 10111.”

A source said millions of rands were stolen from the truck.
